11. Undercut Calculator
What is an Undercut?
An undercut is a race strategy where you pit BEFORE a competitor to benefit from fresh tyres. If your time gain on new tyres exceeds the time lost through your pit stop, you can emerge ahead.
OHP Apex automatically calculates whether an undercut is possible against any bike in the standings.
Using the calculator
- Click the "Undercut" button in the control bar.
- Select your bike (the bike whose strategy you are managing) from the "Our bike" list.
- Select the target bike (the competitor you want to overtake).
- Enter the estimated pit stop duration in seconds (stationary time + pit lane exit).
- The calculator immediately displays: the current gap, the estimated gain on fresh tyres, and whether the undercut is FAVOURABLE or UNFAVOURABLE.

Interpreting the result
| Result | Meaning | Recommended decision |
|---|---|---|
| ✅ Favourable | The time gain on fresh tyres exceeds the pit stop cost + current gap | Pit now to attempt the undercut |
| ❌ Unfavourable | The current gap is too large or the gain on fresh tyres is insufficient | Wait for a better moment or extend the stint |
| ⚠️ Marginal | The margin is very small; the outcome depends on pit stop execution | Team decision based on riders' current form |
